Why You Have Fear In Your Riding!| FearLESS Friday Throwback

This Could Be Why You Have Fear In Your Riding!

Hey Riding Superstars! Today we have one of our most popular FearLESS Friday TV Throwback! This Could Be Why You Have Fear In Your Riding!

Most people have perfect crystal clear clarity vision of how they want their riding not to be. So they don’t want to fall off. They don’t want their horse to rear and then fall off the back. They don’t want their horse to bolt in case they fall off. They don’t want to die. They don’t want to get hurt. They don’t want their horse to be out of control. They don’t want their horse to buck. Very, very crystal clear visions of what they don’t want.

So when I first got on this guy, I never rode him before I bought him, so I had no idea what he was like. And he had come on a plane and had come from a different hemisphere and it was cold where he’d come from and it was hot when he came here. And then he was in quarantine for six weeks.

I’d love to hear from you how you go and what strategies you use to get your horse to canter.

Offer as much details as possible in your reply – your story might just help someone else have a breakthrough in their riding journey!

Important: Links to other posts, videos etc. will be removed.

Thank so so much for reading, watching and sharing your story!

Natasha Althoff:               Hey, FearLESS Superstars. Welcome to FearLESS Friday. My name is Natasha Althoff and I’m a Grand Prix dressage rider from Australia. This is my gorgeous Friesian stallion, Ollie. And FearLESS Friday is all about helping you guys get the confidence and the skills that you need to feel more confident in the saddle and ultimately enjoy yourself more.

Natasha Althoff:               So today I wanted to talk about a big thing that people don’t really think about when they’re looking to overcome their fear. And I’m going to be talking about what’s included in Chapter one of my FearLESS book, which is vision. So, most people have perfect crystal clear clarity vision of how they want their riding not to be.

Natasha Althoff:               But when I say, “Cool. So how do you want your riding to be? What does it look like when you’re riding is going how you want it?”, no one has an answer. Now, our unconscious brains can’t create what we don’t have in our brain. So if all you have is falling off and dying and getting hurt, and the horse being out of control, then that’s what the unconscious looks to create. So it’s very, very important. I’m not saying this fixes fear, I’m not saying this is the answer, but it’s the very first step you need to have, to overcome your fear, which is a very, very clear crystal picture of how you want your riding to be.

Natasha Althoff:               So when I first got on this guy, I never rode him before I bought him, so I had no idea what he was like. And he had come on a plane and had come from a different hemisphere and it was cold where he’d come from and it was hot when he came here. And then he was in quarantine for six weeks. So, by the time he got to me, he was pretty just over humans and didn’t know who to trust and didn’t know what life was about. So he reverted back to being a stallion, which was all he knew and thought, okay, maybe he should be the top dog here at his new place. So there was lots of things… He reared a bit, he bolted a bit, he [inaudible 00:02:02] a bit and all these things that could have got me going, “Oh my God, what have I bought? Oh my God? Oh my God?” And gone into the fear cycle.

Natasha Althoff:               But the very first steps that I did was, okay, that’s what he’s doing, but how do I want him to be? What’s the vision? And my vision has always been since the very first moment I saw him, was he’s going to take me to the Olympics. We’re going to go to the Olympics together. So, that’s my vision. So then even when he became good to ride here, I knew he had to go out. I knew I had to compete him because if I’m going to go to the Olympics, that’s a competition. And I remember going, oh, what’s the first competition going to be like? And is he going to rear and is he just going to be walking on his hind legs over to as many mares as possible? But I had the vision of him doing really well at the competition and he’s ultimately going to win the Olympics. So, that’s the ultimate vision. We can’t even stand still yet, can we? It’s the camera, Ollie. Can you be good?

Natasha Althoff:               So it’s very, very important that I had that to take me through, perhaps my brain maybe wanting to go the other way, going you can’t enter a competition because he’ll kill you and die. So have a think about what you think about on a constant basis for your fear. And if you want to hear me talk about this more, I’m giving away the first four chapters of my Fear book as an audio book, so you can listen to it as you drive your car, you can listen to it on the way to the stables, you can even listen to it while you’re riding. And that’s included free for everyone who joins the FearLESS Mastery Program.

Natasha Althoff:               And the FearLESS Mastery Program is just a dollar for the first month. So if you like, just join for a dollar and then you can cancel at the end of the month. You still get your four free chapters audiobook, and if it helps, you might just overcome your fear and enjoy your riding again.

Natasha Althoff:               So check out… Phil. Put the thing down. What is it?

Phil:                                     Fearlessridingsuccess.

Natasha Althoff:               Fearlessridingsuccess. Yeah. Okay. Fearlessridingsuccess. We might need to change that website. I have too many masteriess in my head. Fearlessridingsuccess.com. Can you stand still please now? Okay. Fearlessridingsuccess.com. Look forward to having you in the program. Look forward to sharing my audio book with you and I’ll see you guys next week. Bye.
