Are you scared to get on your horse? Are you scared to walk? Are you scared to trot? Are you scared to canter? Are you scared to ask for canter and do a trot-to-canter transitions? Are you scared to canter out of control?

If that’s you, I want to help you bring conscious awareness to something that you may be doing. You don’t just get scared magically, you may think you do, but it’s actually not magic. It’s actually something you do in your brain that does a cascade of hormonal events and makes your adrenaline spike and makes you feel your feelings of fear.a

So what we need to do is start to bring into conscious awareness, what you actually do in your brain so you can start fixing it, if you want to, your call. So what you may or may not realize is what I want you to do now, as you’re sitting here watching me, I want you to think of the thing that scares you. If I said, “okay, I want you to get on a horse right now!” What just came up for you? Because for some of you, you already would have had a physiological response.

Your heart rate may have gone up, your stomach may have tightened, you may have started breathing more shallower. What came up here when I said get on a horse right now and go? And when I say go, that will mean different things to different people. Some people are scared to get on, some people obviously get scared… doesn’t matter what you’re scared of. If I say, get on the horse and do the thing you scared of what physiological reaction comes up for you?

And I guarantee how your body knew to give you a physiological reaction was because of what you showed yourself and your mind. You’re all amazing Steven Spielberg’s out there and you create and direct these amazing epic movie in your mind of what can go wrong. When you ride a horse, if you’re scared to get on, you say, horror movies of what happens when you get on a horse.

If you’re scared to canter you’ve got horror movies of what happens when you canter. Your body and brain wants to keep you safe and if you tell it by doing this action, you won’t be safe, of course it’s going to make sure that you keep seeing the horror movie and don’t do it because it doesn’t want you to not be safe.

So I just want you to think about what that movie is and start thinking about how real it is because then you’re going to get epic giggling because you’re going to know it’s not as real as what you think it is.
