What is the best trot for my test?

Hey Dressage Superstars! Today’s question is, “What is the best trot for my test?”

What you have got to do is get brave. You want to create a forward trot. That means I’m kind of bouncing a bit more.

I’m a little bit more out of control. He struggles with the circles a little bit, keeping the forward but all I’m thinking is, “I want to ride more forward.”

Hey, riding superstars. Today I’m going to answer the question, what trot do I use in my test, for the best marks?

Okay. So how do I know what the best trot is for my test? Most of us go, “I’m in the test. I want to keep it controlled.” And their trot kind of goes like this. Who’s done this? “I’m trotting. I got to do a circle. I’m just going to keep it under control. I just want it to be good. Ooh. Ooh. Ooh. Ooh.”

That used to be me. So, what you got to do is get brave. You want to create a forward trot. Now, that means I’m kind of bouncing a bit more. I’m a little bit more out of control. But, now what would you score me for my trot and my circle? So I’ve gone from a five or a six kind of trot, where the judge is going, “Oh yeah. Nice circle. Could have more forward. Could have more expression.”

And he struggles with the circles a little bit, keeping the forward. But all I’m doing is going, “I want to ride you more forward. I want to ride you more forward. I want to ride you more forward. I want to ride you more forward. I want to ride you more forward. I want to ride you more forward. I want to ride you more forward. I want to ride you more forward.”

And is it uncomfortable? Yes. Is it as nice feeling? Whoops. Is it as nice feeling as this trot? No. It’s hard to find. This feels more in control, easier to sit to, good boy. But it’s not going to score. So if you are competing and you want to get a higher score, guaranteed. All you got to do is ride more forward in trot work. Enjoy.
