At The Nationals - What Did We Learn? - Your Riding Success

Hello Riding Superstars!!!! :):)

Wow! I have had a PURELY AMAZING MONTH!!!!! ๐Ÿ™‚

We had our first BREAKTHROUGH to Your Riding Success workshop which was amazing for everyone!!!

I then went off to the Nationals with Loes to compete.

I had goal to score 62.8%

….

I didn’t ๐Ÿ™‚

… In fact – I didn’t even get close to it!

…. At all ๐Ÿ™‚

Abe had a hissy fit going into my passage and screwed up his passage, piaffe and score for transition, which brought my mark down by 3%. So my 62 with that mistake should of been a 59%.

… It wasn’t that ๐Ÿ™‚

…. It wasn’t even close to it!

I scored 56.106%

That score gave me the amazing place of …. last

Crap.

๐Ÿ™‚ Yep ๐Ÿ™‚

….

Did I mention I love dressage? ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚

So you can go the – โ€œYou are a Grand Prix riderโ€

You can do the – โ€œAt least you were there competing in the nationals at Grand Prix levelโ€

You can do the – โ€œWithout the mistake it would have scored 59%โ€

If, but, maybe…

Meh!

๐Ÿ™‚ The fact is I didn’t get my goal.

And thatโ€™s what sits with me. I am the leader. Everything my horse does well is me, everything he does bad… is also me.

So what did I do to create this result? What can I do to make sure it doesn’t happen again?

After a lot of thought, reflection and talking to other successful people – I came to the conclusion …

S&*T happens ๐Ÿ™‚

Sometimes life happens, I have gone over my prep, over my mindset, over my training, over it all… yes I have some learnings to make sure it doesn’t happen again, but when it really comes down to it – I have two things I have taken from it …

1. The horse is an amazing animal with his own thoughts, feelings and ideas. I take responsibility for the confusion in the passage transition and subsequent hiccup through that part of the test, and will use it to fuel me to constantly push myself to be even better, even more feeling and connected, and even more partnered with him so our tests can flow even more.

2. The work we do isn’t good enough – I must learn more, discover more and gain more learnings of more successful strategies, so I can improve my tests so the judges give me more marks.

I know a lot of you who ride dressage understand this. I also know you know as I do, that the way to improve, the way to get better results, the way to to success is get help. Get a mentor and a coach to support you and guide you through, to get the results you want.

So my plan for the month is I have a session with Olympian Kyra Kyrklund as Abe and I have been picked to do a clinic on the Wednesday of Equitana. I also have a 4 day clinic with Olympian Rafael Soto at the end of the month. I am really looking forward to these training opportunities and implementing my new learnings, so I am ready to ROCK my socks off at the Vic State Champs.

I trust you are where you want to be in your riding.
