In todays video we share you the 3 steps to do the perfect leg yield, not just for test riding but how to apply it to your training.

We break down the 3 steps for the leg yield that you can apply to your next ride and training session. You’ll love this clear explanation of how a leg yield is not just limited to the test description of; “straight, except for a slight flexion at the poll away from the direction in which he moves”. We will show you how the basic movements can be adapted and open doors to your horses success! We can’t wait to hear how this helps you in your next ride.

Leg-yielding is much more then just test riding. It can also be used to gymnstisize a horse, and would be included in the training of the horse before he is ready for collected work. Later, together with the more advanced movement, shoulder-in, it is the best means of making a horse supple, loose and unconstrained for the benefit of the freedom, elasticity and regularity of his gaits and the harmony, lightness, and ease of his move- ments. This the use of leg yield in training.

It is very important for riders to understand how each movement and its variations can help various horses reach their maxium potential.
